Culture, Caring, and Compassion
Culture consists of attitudes, beliefs, and values. Learning about
culture helps patients receive great care, produces better co-worker
relationships, and improves job performance.
• Self-awareness (self-reflection) on your personal values, bias, prejudices
provide insight to become open-minded when dealing with cultures other
than your own
• Learn as much as you can about the cultures of your patients and/or
colleagues
• Value the diversity around
you
• Read literature on cultural
