                                               How can you be prepared?

                                               • Be aware of what you do in your job in
relation to patient safety and quality.
                                               • Know your role in responding to
                                                 emergency situations (fire, disaster, bomb,
                                                 etc.)

         • Think of three positive things you can share with a surveyor; something you or
your department is doing extremely well or that you are proud of as part of the
Baptist Health family. (TIP - Review your departmental PI bulletin board for
           specific initiatives.)

         • Think of three positive things you can share with a surveyor; something you or
your department is doing extremely well or that you are proud of as part of the
BHSF family. (TIP - Review your departmental PI bulletin board for specific
           initiatives.)

         • At the hospitals, think about a few examples of how your department
incorporates patient- and family-centered care at the bedside. A few examples
include discharge phone calls, nursing bedside shift reporting, open visiting
hours, use of patient whiteboards, and other communication tools.
