Cough etiquette
Cough etiquette is part of Standard Precautions,
which is included in the Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention (CDC) guidelines.
These are good practices that apply to everybody
and should be followed at all times to help prevent
the spread of germs especially those that cause
colds, the flu, etc.
When sneezing or coughing, cover your nose and
mouth with a tissue. Throw used tissues into a trash
receptacle.
If hands are full or you do not have a tissue,
cough or sneeze into your upper arm sleeve. If
necessary, wear a mask to safeguard the health of
others or yourself if caring for someone coughing.
And most importantly, wash your hands with
soap and water afterwards, or use an alcohol-
based or antibacterial cleanser gel.
Employees, like visitors, should follow
instructions on cough etiquette signs
posted throughout Baptist Health facilities.
Remember: If you are worried about getting
others sick, please DO NOT COME TO WORK!
