The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
This Act provides civil right protections to individuals
with disabilities. Services offered at the entity for staff,
patients and visitors with disabilities are:
Accessible entrances, parking, restrooms, water fountains, pay phones,
and automatic teller machines vary in each building.
Signs in those facilities accessible to people with disabilities have been
placed at the recommended height. The signs have raised letters and
Braille captions.
Equipment available include: TDD communications devices for
inpatients for those with a hearing impairment, speakerphones, lighted
telephone signals, and closed-captioned television.
All people and patients have basic rights given by the laws of the
United States and our 50 states.
Patients have all these basic human rights plus other special rights just
for those in an entity, and they must be given a copy of these when they
come to the entity. We all must know about these rights when we work
in healthcare in order to honor them.
