Falls prevention is everyone's responsibility!
By being alert and aware of your surroundings
many falls may be avoided. There are things
we can all do to prevent a fall.
• When liquids are found on the floor, clean it
up, call environmental services, and place a
caution cone at the area. Do not leave a wet
floor unattended.
• Keeping food and drinks covered when
walking in the hallways can prevent a spill.
• Remove clutter and trash in hallways and
patient areas.
• Know how patients at risk for falls at your
entity are identified such as yellow socks,
falling star on chart and doorframe.
• Notify environmental service if doormats are
not flat (they buckle with age).
• Instruct patients and visitors not to sit on the
recliner footrests.
• Keep beds and chairs in locked position.
• Remind patients and visitors to call for
assistance.
• HELP when someone is calling for help!
