Code Rescue will be initiated for any of the
following criteria not yet being addressed: 2020 Annual Required Education
Sepsis Alert

If patient has 3 or more of the following
signs and symptoms
• Fever greater than 101.0 F
• Hypothermia less than 96.8 F
• Heart Rate greater than 90 beats per minute
• Tachypnea, respiratory rate greater than 30
breaths per minute
• Altered mental status
• NEW systolic blood pressure less than 90
Other
• Multiple stat pages required to assemble the
team needed to respond to a crisis
• Patient complaint of (cardiac) chest pain,
(unresponsive to nitroglycerine, or MD
unavailable)
• Color change (of patient or extremity); pale,
dusky, gray, or blue
• Unexplained agitation for more than 10
minutes
• Suicide attempt in progress
• Uncontrolled bleeding
• Bleeding into airway
• Narcan use without immediate response
