“Pre & Intra-op staff” (continued)
• Use appropriate antiseptic agent,
for example, chlorhexidine
gluconate / technique for skin
preparation
• If needed, hair removal should be
done using clippers in pre op area.
Avoid clipping in the OR

• Provide patient and family with
educational material
• Post operatively perform hand
hygiene before and after any
contact with dressing, drains, etc.

• Notify Infection Control of any
wound drainage, cellulitis, etc.
• Bathe inpatients going to the OR
