Requests from Government Agencies
Baptist Health will comply with all
legitimate requests for information as
required by law. Requests can be
considered routine or non-routine.
A routine request from a government
agency is one that you receive as a normal
part of your job functions.
For example, you work in Health
Information Management and you routinely
receive requests from Medicare for copies
of medical records so that the claims can be
processed.
A non-routine request could be
notification of an investigation, a subpoena,
an affidavit, a warrant, or a request for a
long list of records.
When you receive a non-routine request you should first notify your supervisor,
Audit and Compliance, or the Legal Department. The purpose of this notification is to
make sure that Baptist Health responds as appropriate within the correct timeframe.
Employees of Baptist Health must not obstruct any investigation into the business or
legal practices of Baptist Health.
